Fat and Happy

He looks like a fat little version of Matt! :)

So sad I cut his head off in these!

How is it possible to love something this much? :)

What's that noise? Part TWO

Matt did this again. We were just hanging out at home, since that's what we do now, and he was holding the baby when all of the sudden, he silenced me.

"What's that noise?"

No sound. Back to chatting...

And then a few minutes later, he silences the room again... No sound.

Five minutes later he looks down and notices that as he was bouncing the little guy, his shorts had been rubbing against the coffee table and THAT was the sound he heard.

What can we learn about Matt from these two scenarios? One, he has really good hearing. Two, he is very aware of the noises around him. Three, he usually interprets normal sounds as signs of danger before realizing what they actually are. Four, like Simon Birch, this special gift may one day come in handy... in the case that there actually is danger.

Confessions: Sometimes I watch Ellen and Dr. Oz

(And sometimes multiple times in one week.)

Not that I need to, but please let me justify myself by saying this TV watching takes place when the baby is nursing, so I am glued to the couch anyway. I may as well, right?

Quite unfortunately, The View comes on after Ellen, and I occasionally find myself listening to Whoopi, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and co. banter. Gag. But most of the time I turn the TV off before we get to that point.

Ellen, by the way, is hilarious and she has me laughing out loud most anytime I watch. Dr. Mehmet Oz wears tight scrubs and does nerdy dances, which is entertaining enough on its own, but he actually teaches valuable information, so the show is usually worth the while...

I'd like to share some exciting stuff he taught me this last week.

Did you know that today, if you stopped smoking (all you smokers out there), you'd add 11 years to your life?

Did you know that if you started flossing today (since none of you floss), you would add 7 years to your life? SEVEN YEARS.

Did you know that TODAY if you stopped eating after 8:30 PM, you could add 2 years to your life?

I know since many of you work, you miss out on this life-altering information. That is why I am here. My little contribution to society. ;)

233 unread items and counting...

In my google reader that is... which doesn't really mean anything to you unless you know how many different feeds I subscribe to, etc. But, I will tell you that it means I have been absent from blog world for awhile. And OH how I have missed my bloggy friends! Those who are left of you anyway...

I know you guys have all been dying to figure out what I've been up to, since you are obviously extremely concerned about my life, but I'm going to spare you and just say I've been more busy than I prefer to be. (Because I usually prefer to have nothing mandatory scheduled ever.) :)

People keep telling me my baby looks like an old man. Everyone says that, which is funny. In my dad's words, "Baby look at your daddy, this is what you will look like when you grow up." And then, "Matt, look at baby, this is what you will look like when you grow up."

I just hope that I won't have to change Matt's diapers.

Also, no one calls baby by his name. They all call him "Little Matt." He does look like Matt. It's a little bit scary. Here's a recent pic that we think is hilarious.

Look at that face! That's his fake cry face.

Anyway, you might think I am crazy, but I realized the other day that I am not in the pregnant club anymore. And, it's sort of sad not to be in the pregnant club. Yes, I did enter the mom club and the parent club, but the pregnant club is much more exclusive. No, I am not wishing I was pregnant, but maybe just experiencing small doses of nostalgia. Can you believe it? Women are crazy.

Side note: You should know... after a few visits to a mom's group through my church, let me tell you, MOMS are GENIUSES. After just a few visits, I now have creative solutions to certain challenges that I've been dealing with my whole life... and to challenges that I've encountered in motherhood... What kind of challenges and the solutions? Well, you'd have to be in the mom club for me to tell you. Or you'd have to come visit me in person. ;)

mom brain is worse than pregnant brain and other stuff...

Last night we grilled burgers w/ some friends, and after waiting awhile and building up an appetite, I sat down to eat my yummy burger. I take a huge bite, only to realize that I had managed to fix up a whole "burger," but left out the meat. Ooops. And yeah, gross.

In other news, first time parents are stupid. (Not us, of course.)

You see, Last night baby slept 6 hours straight, which is like a new parent's dream come true. So, being the pessimist that I am, I expected him to be a little bit of a turd today... a sweet turd of course, but a turd. But, he's been an angel. He's been content when he is awake, and then he has pretty much slept all day, except when he was eating, pooping, and getting bathed.

SOOOOOO, you'd think we'd just be thankful and excited that we had such an easy day, but instead we start thinking that the lethargy means there's something wrong. So, we take his temperature, start researching "infant lethargy," and I actually just overheard Matt ASKING baby to, "Please cry for daddy."

Pretty sure anyone with more than one kid would tell us we're psycho. Oh well.
