If Matt had an iphone...

Which applications would he download first?

The other day I was talking to someone (can't remember who... can't remember much these days), and we were discussing if Matt would like an iphone. My initial response was that he wouldn't because he's really all business, and I can't see him using a lot of apps.

"Well, I take that back," I said to unknown person, "He'd probably download some sort of MLB or ESPN app."

Well, just a few days later, Matt decided to dl an app to his crackberry. "What was it?" you ask.

Duh, The Weather Channel app.

Here's what else has been going on lately...

I make it my goal to take a shower each day, and so far I have been successful. I also make it my goal to leave the house with the baby at least one time each day, even if it's just up to the Starbucks drive thru. Besides that, there is very little time for anything else. Right now, I should be sleeping, and I will be hating myself at 2:30 AM for not sleeping, but oh well.

Pregnant women, if you have anything that you want to get finished before your baby comes, get it done NOW. You just won't have time later, and then you will have to hire people to do all of your chores. :)

And a baby update...

He is a cuddle bug. He LOVES to cuddle. Tomorrow we are going in for his 1 month appt, and I have a feeling he is growing at an alarming rate. He's not fat, per se, but he is really really long and weighty... you might say he is solid. And precious of course. We can't wait to find out what he weighs tomorrow!

Here is our fav pic of baby thus far...

And I must confess that I am not caught up on any of your blogs. Lo siento, bloggy amigos.

For the extended family...He's got his dad's hairline. And that pacifier takes up 1/3 of his face!

I have been pretty good about keeping up w/ all of your blogs, but I have not been so good about posting! I'll try to get my act together!

matt is providing me w/ some seriously awesome blog material

This afternoon Matt and I were both in the kitchen. I was cleaning up and fixing myself a cup of coffee, Matt was making himself a snack.

As I am putting the toaster away, Matt suddenly tells me, "Sshh. Stop moving."

I stop, look over at Matt who has a really concerned look on his face, as if he hears some strange noise, so I tune in... Baby's not crying, and there are no other strange noises.

Then I realize what he is hearing...

"Babe, it's the coffee pot."

Matt gets a look of relief on his face. Wow. He had seen the plumber next door at the neighbor's house and was really concerned that we had some neighborhood-wide plumbing issue.

Another blog game! Happy 101!

Since I am super special and a wonderful blogger, my friend (and other sorority sister), Annie, honored me with with this blog award!

In order to accept this award, I must list 10 things that make me happy and then pass the award along to 10 fabulous blogs!

Not technically in order:

10. Our small group at church. And also friends from church. I love those people more and more every week.

9. Organizing and cleaning out... anything/everything. I love things being perfectly organized. I can't sleep or relax unless there is order.

8. Drinking a cup of Starbucks coffee while journaling, praying, reading my bible and/or a combination of the three. Seems totally lame when I write it, but I guess I really am a coffee shop junkie. But I don't think Starbucks counts since it is so commercialized.

7. Perfect weather in general. (At least 70 and Sunny, Summer sunsets, etc.- you get the idea.)

6. The Beach! (Preferably one w/ a warm ocean, i.e Gulf of Mex.)

Matt and Peter on the beach last summer.

5. Spending time with family, either mine or Matt's.

4. The right song at the right time. (Three minutes which cannot be anticipated and therefore are wonderfully delightful!)

3. Phone conversations with my sister (when she is in the mood to talk) or some of my best friends who do not live in Austin.

2. Umm, my baby, duh! And his daddy!

1. Jesus. "He loves Thee too little, who loves anything as well as Thee which he does not love for Thy sake." - Augustine

And I tag anyone who wants to play.

We love Lucy!

On Sunday our friends, Justin and Sally, welcomed their second baby into the world! Our baby boy is ecstatic to have a new playmate! J & Sal have been our friends since high school through college, and now we are neighbors and go to the same church.

Meds

I am officially a pill popper. I mean, ALL the time. Here's what I am taking. Get excited.

Prenatal Vitamin.
Vitamin C.
Calcium Supplement (must be taken separately from Prenatal).
Prescription Strength Motrin for pain every 4 hours or as needed.
Vicodin for pain every 4 hours or as needed (probably could stop this now, but hey...).
Stool softener (because all of the above items will really screw stuff up).
Antibiotic twice a day because I came down with mastitis (linked here if you care to know about it- you're welcome).
Probiotic (acidophilus) to prevent yeast infection due to the antibiotic.

Meds I should be taking that I am not?
A DHA supplement.

Yeah, I feel like a druggie, but Henry is worth it!

Mommy's Little Frog. Daddy's little Longhorn!
I think his eyes are going to stay blue.

The Beautiful Blogger Award

My sorority sister from college, Amanda, has tagged me with the Beautiful Blogger Award. HOORAY! I've been waiting my whole life... okay just kidding. But in an effort to not make this blog all about baby, I am more than willing to participate!

So I think I am supposed to list seven things about myself that the Internet does not already know. Here goes it.

1. I sucked my thumb till I turned 9 years old.

2. I LOVE personality tests. Except I hate that I love them because there is a part of me that disagrees with looking to anyone but my Creator for identity, but then another part of me just loves to figure people out. There are three tests in particular that I like that range from being very simple to relatively complex. I will share those with you another time.

3. When I was about 4 years old, I found some scissors and decided to give myself a haircut. I vaguely remember my mom going ballistic. Unfortunately the only remedy for my hair was a mullet. So yeah, I had a mullet for about a year or so? I'll have to find a picture and upload it sometime.

4. When I was a child I would put myself to sleep. Dream child. Still not a big party-er to this day.

5. Brag alert #1. I once lost 22 pounds in a week. Oh wait, that was this past week. :) Mua ha!

6. Brag alert #2. In 5th grade I won the award for the best DARE essay in my class. I think the girl who won the award for the best DARE essay in the whole 5th grade went on to be our valedictorian and went to school at MIT. Anyway, I was caught off guard because I wasn't really expecting to win at all. I had to read my essay in front of the whole 5th grade and all of their parents, and I was really nervous. My best friend's mom told me that I needed to have more confidence. This is still true today. I am not afraid of public speaking, but I am much more articulate and forthright when I write than when I speak.

7. When I was growing up, my mom told me not to brag. She told me ALL the time. I remember her quoting the Proverb about letting another praise you and not your own mouth, someone else and not your own lips. I am still learning this lesson. Not to brag, but Matt has mastered it (the not bragging). I am constantly amazed at his unwillingness to boast. I still manage to pass some of it off as "sharing exciting news."

So there you go. And now I tag the following seven BEAUTIFUL bloggers. No I will not be offended if you don't play. :)

1. My mom, Becky, at Bits O Honey.
2. Cousin, Tracy, at My Front Porch Looking In.
3. Katrina at Fun as the Dunns.
4. Erin at Mill's Moments.
5. Kristi at Sugar and Caffeine.
6. Brittany at It's a New Day.
7. Courtney at Team Bourlon.

True Story

My mom and I took baby boy to the pediatrician on Tuesday. Long story short, she was pretty strict about lifestyle with a baby, but I was okay with most of it.

However, she did made a comment about how I shouldn't really take him out in public (to crowded places) for about 2 months. "Yeah, right," was the thought that immediately went through my head.

So today, when we decided to make an outing to the new Dillard's in the Domain (which is AWESOME by the way), my mom, jokingly, made a comment about how she hoped that we didn't run into the pediatrician while we were out.

Welp, on our way out of Dillard's we are walking to the exit through the swimsuit section, and low and behold... the pediatrician. I kid you not! Needless to say, I did not say hello.

On another note, I was definitely watching 'Wheel of Fortune' earlier tonight. Can you say PARENT? Yes. Yes. Happy Friday!

for the grandparents and great grandparents

I have wanted to blog so many times, but when you're feeding a kiddo like half of the day, changing diapers for a fourth of the day, and trying to sleep in between, it gets a little rough... but I'm loving it! Thought I'd just upload some more pictures and videos for now. Forgive my laziness for not rotating some of the pictures.

That big hairy thing on the left is Matt's arm.

Mama's little angel!

Staring at daddy!

We were pretty excited about going on the first family walk.

And a video... He smiles for a split second in this one.

Fun Fun Fun! Pushing and Delivery!

APOLOGIES! I kind of left my blog people hanging, figuring that you all probably get facebook and twitter updates. But in case you didn't get the memo, baby is here as of Fri at 1:45! AND I'M NOT PREGNANT ANYMORE!!!!!!!

Let me tell you about this delivery. First of all, my mom, sister and Matt were all in the room, which made this whole thing really fun. I watched my sister deliver her first kiddo, so I thought I'd return the gift to her. :) Hahaha.

My mom was behaved for the most part. Except I gave her strict instructions not to take a SINGLE picture of anything nasty, and let's just say she is not very compliant. That, or we have different interpretations of "nasty." Unfortunately, I was too busy pushing to be able to notice or reprimand her. Don't worry, those have ALL been deleted.

At 1:15ish it was time to push. I didn't have to push that much, which was awesome because after each time I pushed it felt like I had just finished a marathon. And all the doctors and nurses were telling me I was a really good pusher. Thanks, I think? My doctor told me he'd have to hire me to teach a class on how to push. "Thanks. I'm very flattered." Now I'm bragging, better stop.

No, but really, I will brag about this... somehow I was able to crack a bunch of jokes between contractions (pushes), and I had the doctor and the whole room laughing. I don't know what got into me... probably the epidural combined with almost 2 days of no sleep. :) Okay, I'm really done bragging.

So after about 8-10 contractions worth of pushing, baby had arrived (1:45 PM)! Not going to lie, he looked like an alien, and had a MAJOR cone head at first. It was awesome, but I was a little scared. He looked exactly like his dad... mua ha ha. (Okay, okay, not the alien/conehead part.)

Here are some pictures from the last few days!

Everyone thinks he is the spitting image of Matt with my nose. (The cone head is gone.)

Arriving home yesterday around 2pm- exhausted. (We stopped to get sushi from Maki on the way home to celebrate not being pregnant anymore.)

So I found this sweet little longhorn hat (which doesn't quite fit him yet) at a baby boutique in Austin, and couldn't pass it up!

Can't wait to catch up on some of your blogs! I'll try to keep some variety over here at Gibbizarre, but no promises - we all know how that went during pregnancy!

Note to other pregnant women out there: I did not lose 20 lbs in one day. More like 12. Very disappointing, but I'm over it! :)
