Funny Text Messages
Another phone post... Notice 1- the text where my kids aren't taking their naps, 2- I don't know how old I am, 3- Matt loses his sunglasses, 4- My sister's 5 year old asleep in the bath tub.
I stand corrected.
A friend of ours let me know that apparently the french word that sounds like "MUA" is actually spelled MOI. When he first told me this I was like, "Oh well, no biggie." But then I thought that if I was the one who knew French, then it would totally irritate me... SO, it's moi. :)

is it just me?
Today I got in the car after hanging out with my mom friends, and I looked in my mirror to see that my eyeliner had smudged all underneath my eyes. No one told me. And it wasn't like smudged in a natural way - it was more like someone had taken the eyeliner pencil and drawn a vertical line from the edge of my eye down towards my mouth (it didn't actually stretch that far, but you get what I'm saying?) Does that happen to anyone else or is it just me? Usually if I am with Matt and something like that happens, and I say, "BABE! Why didn't you tell me I had eyeliner all over my eyes?" He will then take a good, close look at my eyes and say, "Oh. I didn't notice." Sweet husband, you are not observant, but I do love you a lot.
Speaking of husband. I am turning into my husband, who as you know, loses things like crazy. The thing is, when he loses things he freaks out and gets really alarmed. I used to keep my cool, knowing that whatever he "lost" was probably just under a piece of paper (or on the side of the road). Friends, I am a different person after having two children. Have I mentioned that I lost my original set of car keys on December 21st, and have yet to find them? Today, I spent a good 25 minutes looking for my backup set... only to find them on the bathroom counter. But I didn't keep my cool. All I could think about was how if I didn't find them, I was gonna be stuck at home with two kids ALL. DAY. LONG. I prayed out loud that Jesus would help me find them, and he did. Thank you, Lord.
Have I told you that my iPhone doubles as a white noise machine for Sam? I downloaded this incredible app that has white noise that I use to put Sam to sleep or keep him asleep when we are out and about (or when his older brother is being particularly rambunctious). So, the white noise has literally become like background noise in our house - we are so used to it being on all the time... True story, I also spent almost half an hour looking for my phone a couple of weeks ago. Never mind that I could hear the white noise in Sam's car seat AS I was looking for my phone... of course I felt really cool when I "found" it in Sam's seat. Dumby dumb dumb.
Okay and here's another fun story. Today (as in like 10 minutes ago), I went to grab a shirt out of the dryer (cause if I don't need to be putting new wet clothes in the dryer, then the ones that are in there can just stay there, right?). Anyway, to my surprise, the dryer was EMPTY. "Did Matt fold the clothes? Did I fold the clothes and forget about it?" No... none of the above. I never actually moved my clothes from the washer to the dryer, so they had been sitting wet for 24+ hours. No biggie.
Till next time, friends...

Gettin lazy over here
I can just post pictures from my phone- don't even have captions, but it is a post nonetheless. So here's my latest phone pics... Anyone remember when you had to PAY for film? Can you imagine life as a parent when you couldn't snap 1000000 photos of your kids whenever you wanted? And you couldn't tell if it was a bad picture till after you developed and paid for your film. Man, we have it so easy these days. Oh yeah, the pics. Maybe I'll add captions later.

oh and while I'm at it...
Mistake: not proofreading before I publish. I do it all the time. It drives me a little crazy counting the number of times I wrote the word "seriously" in my last post. Perhaps I should change my blog name to "seriously."
I'm not trying to win any awards over here people.
I'm not trying to win any awards over here people.
seriously - drafts galore
BOTH KIDS ARE SLEEPING. BOTH KIDS ARE SLEEPING! But seriously, when nap time goes smoothly like this, things have a way of going downhill fast at night... like both kids start wailing at the same time... till then, however, BOTH KIDS ARE SLEEPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What can I tell you about???
I seriously LOVE Sammy right now. He is so fun, and has started to really laugh. You know, not just giggle, but laugh laugh.
Of course, I also LOVE Henry right now. He cracks me up all the time.
I also love that they are both asleep.
I also love cheese. Seriously... whose idea was it to take cheese and cut it up into little bite sized cubes so I could just devour it while I sip on my diet coke? Great idea!
I also love Easter candy. I justify the amount I eat by telling myself that "at least I'm not giving it to Henry." Real logical.
Those beets that I made the other night - I shoved them into one of my healthy smoothies, and couldn't even taste them. Gosh, I'm getting healthier by the day. (Minus the cheese.) And for crying out loud, I made a "lentil and chard" soup last night. I didn't even know what chard was until about two days ago when I received a box of locally grown, organic veggies (courtesy of Groupon). (That's also why I had beets, people.)
Oh, and I didn't actually make the soup last night, but yesterday while Henry was sleeping. I learned my lesson - no more dinner cooking between the hours of 3 PM and 6 PM... things tend to go downhill fast during those hours.
Let's see. What else? Did I tell you guys about the minivan I was driving behind the other day? Since Texas now has PERSONALIZED LICENSE PLATES (seriously!?)... this mom in her minivan thought it would be good to have one that read, "ILUVP90X." Really? You love P90X SO much that you are going to make it your license plate? We can't be friends.
Okay, that's enough for now! I finished a post!!!!!! In the future, I will work on having a point.

funny homeless signs and other stuff
In case you didn't already know, Austin is home to the homeless. The other day Matt and I passed a homeless guy with a sign that we found pretty amusing. It read: DON'T NEED INTERNET. WIFE KNOWS EVERYTHING. We liked it.
Then yesterday some dude was holding up a sign that said, "People who sleep like a baby probably don't have one." Very true.
Next. Tonight I planned ahead (for once) and tried to actually cook a decent dinner - steak with some different types of vegetables (including beets, which I was cooking for the first time). Of course it just so happened that my children would be really needy during the time when I needed to be cooking the food. (Like food was on the stove and in the oven, timers were going off, etc.) Sam was sleepy, but we had let him get overtired which meant that he had to be held by me and only me. This kid goes bananas when we try to hand him over to Matt - poor Matt. Anyway, I'm sitting in Sam's room, rocking him to sleep (you know while timers are going off and stuff), thinking to myself, "Why do even TRY to cook? I'm never cooking again!" Then seconds later Matt comes in to tell me that he doesn't know what happened, but after changing Henry's diaper, he went outside to find the grill heated above 650 degrees with smoke and flames all over the place. Steaks ruined. So we had pasta for like the 5th time out of the last 7 days. Can I just order pizza every night?

oh my oh my
It's been like 100 years since I posted. Or close to that. I don't know what to say, so I will just write about my kids.
Henry is always making us laugh these days - and when he's not making us laugh, he's making us pull our hair out. I'm telling you - I wouldn't necessarily use the word "terrible" to describe the twos, but maybe "tiring" or "tricky" or "trying." Let's just say after I put him down for his nap today, I wolfed down three pieces of pizza and washed that down with some peanut butter m&ms - thank you Easter candy. Maybe not the most productive way to get some relief, but effective nonetheless.
Anyway. Here are some of the latest funny things he says.
Mom: "Henry, what do you want for lunch?"
Henry: "Breakfast!" (He doesn't realize that breakfast is the name of the meal and not an actual food... or maybe he does.)
He hasn't learned to say "I want ANOTHER [fill in the blank]." Instead he says, "I want another one [fill in the blank]." Example: Another one cookie. Another one sip.
He asks for my "sip" all the time. Also known as "Mama's diet TOKE!" "Sip mama's diet toke" is the typical request.
I discovered that I must say, "Oh my gosh" a lot. Because Henry says it now... "Oh dosh!" And apparently I must say it when I am changing his dirty diapers because that's when we hear it the most... and for the record, we are trying to discourage that phrase - but man, teaching by example can be tough.
My most favorite thing Henry does is when he purposely wakes Sam up, Sam starts crying, and then Henry runs to me and says, "Sammy is awake now!" (Note sarcasm - this is not my favorite thing he does.)
His newest thing is, "I need [fill in the blank]." Usually it's something that he absolutely does NOT need. Like gum, for instance. Or chocolate milk. We get in the car and he says, "I want GUUUUUM (whiny voice). I need GUM!" (And yes, I let him chew gum. And no, he doesn't swallow it.)
This is stuff that I want to remember, but that I also find somewhat funny - when I am not finding it a little annoying. Cause remember, I hear these things ALL DAY LONG. :)
What about Sam?
Sam is just super fun right now. How come I didn't remember that babies are SO FUN? Extra bonus - they can't whine or beg or throw tantrums. Not that Henry ever does any of that anyway.
Sammy just had his 4 month check up and he was just dandy. I definitely did not admit to the pediatrician that he is still sleeping in his swing. (She discouraged that when we admitted to it at the two month appointment, so I was definitely not gonna fess up this time.) We like to do what works at this point... Sam actually sleeps pretty well. He is easy to put to sleep, unlike Henry, but he can't sleep unless he is swaddled and at an incline. I'm sure this will change soon. He weighs 15lbs, 6 oz and is 25.5 inches that's 60th% and 75th% respectively - still smaller than his brother was.
He rolls from his tummy to back, but not vis versa and he loves to sit up and be in the exersaucer.
From what I can tell Henry is MAYBE a little more of an introvert - maybe. And Sam is a little more of an extrovert - but I really can't tell for certain (and I am certain I can't trust my memory). Most likely they will be confused as to whether or not they are introverted or extroverted like their mom. Actually, I'm not confused - I am an introvert. Anyway.
Sam's eyes are still blue and they are gonna stay that way. Cause apparently blue eyes are dominant now? No, but really - I have figured out that my kids actually DO have some of my genes. Like Henry is allergic to penicillin (like MUA) and he gets ear infections that don't go away (LIKE MUA). Sam has detached earlobes (like mua). I still refuse to agree with ANYONE who tries to tell me that Sam has my eyes at all because NEVER in my life have I had squinty eyes. Never. Not that I don't love his eyes, but squinty eyes come from his daddy's side of the family.
Okay, if you didn't think I was crazy before this post, you think I am crazy now.
Oh wait. I have to tell you about my VICTORY SMOOTHIE. I have gotten Henry to eat TONS of spinach and kale via smoothie. It's amazing. I feel like a new woman because my child is eating tons of fruits and vegetables without realizing it! Here's my recipe. Henry drinks it and he LIKES it.
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 cup frozen grapes
1 banana (fresh or frozen)
1/2 apple
1 cup vanilla yogurt
1 cup almond milk (or regular milk - whatever)
and 1 large handful each of kale and spinach (I think you could probably add more and be safe bc I promise you cannot taste it at all.)
Blend and enjoy! It is sooooo good and he can't taste the veggies. (And this makes like 2.5 adult servings - so Henry usually has just 1/2 of an "adult" serving.) Since I also don't particularly enjoy eating kale or spinach, this is a great way for me to get the fruits and veggies too. :)
Longest post ever, but I guess that's what happens when you only post once a month.
