1. I just made a pumpkin coffee cake. Except I used a plain coffee cake recipe and just added canned pumpkin to it. Major, MAJOR fail - even with the yummy streusel topping.
2. I was testing the cry it out method for naptime while making said coffee cake. I went back to calm the little guy down, and he was STANDING in his crib. (That was definitely a first for him.) He is really tall, so his entire head was above the handlebar! (Note, my decision to put the crib bed at the lowest setting was a good one.) I was so excited about his accomplishment that I took him out of his crib and nursed him to sleep. I officially stink at the Ferber method.
3. We had Henry's 2 month post-surgery follow up appointment today! But the exciting part about this is that he was very hungry and tired on the way home = perfect time to sneak in a bottle. He sucked down three consecutive ounces from a bottle. Eventually he refused it again, but this gave me a glimmer of hope.

Crap. I got super-excited about your pumpkin coffee cake and was going to ask you for the recipe-until i read on. Welcome to my life in trying to incorporate pumpkin to stuff. I bought 2 can of pumkin but i'm scared to try anything. Your post doesn't help-but makes me feel better that i'm not the only one that gets punked when trying to use pumpkin. Love you! and yes, it's me.
Bummer! I hate when things go all wrong in the kitchen.
I have a really good recipe for pumpkin muffins if you want to re-try a pumpkin recipe. It actually should be in my October archives from last year.
